overnite accomodations for 08 convention at mid-ohio

hey all, chris holmes [albany, ny z club] and i have decided that, as the zcon 08 track is approximately 1.5 hours from the host hotel, we would head there the night prior, so that we are well rested before a long day at the track. also makes partaking of a few cold ones the evening prior a bit more relaxing...

 

i have contacted many hotels in the mid-ohio complex area and worked a preliminary group rate. the criteria i used are; less than 8 miles from the track, a/c & fridge & 2 beds in room, free wireless internet & breakfast and close to local restaurants [for dinner tues eve]. the rate will be less than $56/nite + tax. do the math, you share the room with 1-2 people and it will run you $25-$32. pretty cheap for a good nite sleep, less than 10 min from the track, arriving rested and ready to drive...FAST!

 

the stay would be for tuesday evening, sept 30th, departing oct 1st.

 

i have it narrowed down to 2 hotels and need to get a head count so i can go back to them and negotiate a final rate. once i've finalized the place/rate and have all the details [see next paragraph] i'll post them here.

 

once finalized, i'll provide hotel contact information, rate and the 'group' to identify yourself with for the discount. each individual will then be responsible for booking/paying for their own rooms. i'm simply providing the legwork & rate negotiation.

 

personally, i've found that driving tired leads to mistakes on the track and i've spent too much time, sweat & money to wreck my z for something i can avoid.

 

please [if you are planning on running your z or spectating] and would like a room, contact me directly no later than august 19th with the number of people interested so i can create a 'rough' count to use to determine our group rate. after aug 19th, you are on your own.
