Vacuum servo unit "power brake booster"

Recommended Posts

I have a 1974 260Z and the servo just went south. I came to a stop and had to stand on the brakes to get it to stop. when depressing the brake pedal, the engine would increase rpm. At the time, I thought what the heck...After checking the thing out, the diaphragm must be bad, causing a vacuum leak, thus the increase of rpm.

I called all the local parts stores, and they can not get a replacement. I called Nissan and they said it is no longer available. Napa will send it off to get rebuilt.

Have any of you encountered this problem, and if so where did you get a replacement?

Brake boosters are available through AutoZone and the like. I just checked within the last 2 days. It's $160, however.

When you need one and they are the only source, they can charge what they want and we will have to pay the price.

$160 does not sound to bad.

Thanks
