Guest super280z Posted February 6, 2002 Share Posted February 6, 2002 answering that age old question, once again. it's not the absolute size that matters. shoot, we'd all be rolling around with gutted cars to fit a 45" rear end in if that were the case. (sorry couldnt resist that one.) the reason a 9" fomoco Independent rear would be awesome is the placement of the pinion in relation to the ring gear. on the ford, it's on the bottom of the gearwhich is ideal for the 1/4. in not too sure about the 230 but i'd be willing to bet it's pinion is about in the center like allmost every other rear.
