EddieBird
I basically want mostly street/performance suspension where i can adjust the height. So I wanted to get some coilovers. I understand there are companies that rebuild your old setup, but I was wondering what my other options where to get a ride height adjustable coilover suspension for a pretty affordable price. (maybe under $700?)
jerryb
This may not be the best text book approach but Ive been thinking.... as long as the thread perch ID is correct and the weight of the car is "close" why couldnt one use a set like this. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Tiburon-03-04-05-Coil-Over-Lowering-Kit-up-to-4-drop_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1207Q7c39Q3a1Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c240Q3a1318QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem280270731344QQitemZ280270731344 A while back I bought a set like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/90-93-HONDA-ACCORD-COIL-OVER-COILOVER-SPRINGS-BLUE-92_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1207Q7c39Q3a1Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c240Q3a1318QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem200257750453QQitemZ200257750453 for my 240SX just for the perches and discovered the quality to be surprisingly good. If you spend some time searching ....2.5" springs can be found quite inexpensivly....it just a matter of finding the right length and spring rate and Im know the choices are readily available. Havent tried this myself but Im sure something could be put together for a reasonable price....much less than available kits. A thought to ponder and research......??? EddieBird
yea i was thinking i could maybe custom fab some coilovers that were meant for another car like you're suggesting.. yea i should be doing some more research.. i was hoping to see if someone has done it and had any suggestions but thanks ill start researching more from your tip! oh, so are you saying maybe the tiburon ones might have similar "thread perch" and other specs as my 280? THANKS MUCH!!
jerryb
Not at all...no idea. Thats what you need to research. Just make sure the ID of the threaded pearch is big enough to slip over the 289Z strut tubes. I believe most may be smaller. oh, so are you saying maybe the tiburon ones might have similar "thread perch" and other specs as my 280?
