bruin_d
I recently purchased a 78 280z with a 5-speed to use as a daily driver (my other vehicle is a 01 F-250 Turbo Diesel). I bought with a bad exhaust leak and the manifold and holes throughout the rest of the exhaust system. The first thing that I did was order a header and a complete exhaust system from MSA. I put the exhaust system on and love it. However, I have a little problem. I can't figure out what hose goes to the port on top of the throttle body. There was nothing on it when I bought the car and I can't find it anywhere in any of the manuals I bought. I took a picture of it and put a box around the piece I need help with. Let me know if anyone can help. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn59/bruin_d/DSC04875-1.jpg
JSM
That looks emissions releated and likely can be left unhooked if it's running okay. Download the 77 manual. I'm pretty sure the emission items were same for both years or very close. This will take awhile to download: http://carfiche.com/manuals023/cars/77_datsun_280z.pdf.gz
bruin_d
I figured it was something for emissions. Thanks.
FlatBlack
I have pulled all of the emissions equipment off of my 78's intake manifold and my car ran fine. Its just a vacuum valve, you can get vacuum from anywhere on the manifold and it should be o.k.
