My 1970 240Z project

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

Quick presentation. I'm a long time 240Z lover but unfortunatly living in rust paradis which is Quebec, Canada. After searching many year for a decent 240Z, I purchase a California 240Z that has been sitting fo the last 20 years in a chicken barn under a blanket. The car is 98% rust free and interior is in very good condition. But it need a good mecanical refresh.

I've been searching for the last 4 month for idea and direction for my project and now I'm pretty sure I know where I'm going.

Ive purchase a few weeks ago a second car. It is a 1972 240Z that has been damage since the garage where it was had fire damage. The paint and body are wreck mainly because the fireman went on the roof to try to end the fire in the ceiling....... The good thing is that the mecanic is nearly intact. Even the tire are still good!

That 1972 have a lot of racing parts so I'll be using a few of them for my 1970.

So here is breifly the project:

- The car original color is White 904. So going back that color. Currently stripping everything to have a nic job: motor out, every glass remove, door, hood, hatch, ect....

- Will be keeping the the L24 since it is in very good condition.

Here are the nice parts I'm swapping from the 72 to the 70:

- 4 wheel Hurst/Airheart disc brake system

- Electronic distributor

- 280Zx Alternator

- Performance coil and Wire

- Datsun perfomance 5 speeds close ratio transmission

- Datsun performance 4.11 LSD diff

- Coilover with Illumina and F218/R271 springs

- Polyuretane bushing all over

- Performance front and rear swaybar

- Performance clutch

- ROH 15" Wheel (will be painted "grahite")

- Clifford SS headers 3-2 with twice pipe exhaust

- BRE Front spoiler (will be painted gloss black)

- And few other upgrade.

The orange car is a member here. Sorry, I forgot the name and on which thread I found it.

So it will be closely the same except in white and no rear spoiler.

Should be ready for next summer if everything go has planned :?

Will try to post some progress picture
