Modern Motorsports Ltd
It's your front wheels landing back on the ground Seriously though, likely diff mount or trans mount/input assuming all rear struts/shocks are all snugged up, nothing loose. I've seen quite a few trashed R200 rear mounts from 280ZX's and Z31's.
Guest Anonymous
My 1984 300ZX n/a is making a loud thud when I let off the gas (especially after quick acceration (sp?). Its coming from the rear. I know the guy has replaced the shocks, and struts. I was wonding if it could be the driveshaft, or one of the rear axles, differential? Any help is much appreciated. I love the lil suprises you get when you buy a new to you car.
Mike kZ
Could be those. Could also be your diff mount. They are made of rubber, and after many years of launching they tend to tear appart. Get under there and move things around.
Guest Anonymous
What kind of damage can occure if this is not tended to quickly. Can I still race it If I plan to fix it in 3 or 4 monthes?
fl327
heck no, dont race it, youll start breaking all kinds of stuff, and who knows where, if you cant get to it now dont race at all. simplest thing is to get down there and see what it is, if its the diff mount its fairly cheap and easy to do, and then you can really go all out if you want. Guest Anonymous
Stage 1: I checked the diff mount and one bolt was a lil loose so I snugged it back. Tested it and that wasnt the problem. I sounds like its coming from the Passanger side of the car.
Guest Anonymous
I'd check all along the drive train. Transmission mount, motor mounts etc. Grab anything with a bushing (control arms etc.) and try to wiggle it. otherwise (shrug)
Guest Anonymous
I belive I have found the problem. The lower spring rubber is all trashed and the spring is hitting the suspention member assembly when I let off or over large bumps. Does this sound correct? Also Does anyone know the proceedure to change it out? Can I buy the part, take a clamp and "compress" the spring enough to swap it out? OR is there a better way?
