I've finally decided to v8 my beloved '77, and I already have a Ford 302 sitting in the corner of my shop that needs a few simple parts (like manifolds, carbs, H20 pump, etc.)- my car is already an auto trans, and I'm finding that I don't mind the automatic as much as I thought I would. I do a lot of freeway driving so I guess something with an overdrive would be preferred- what specific transmission should I be looking for and how much should I expect to spend? _c Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest Aaron Posted May 23, 2002 Share Posted May 23, 2002 if you like an auto, go with a Ford AOD behind that 302. They can be built as strong as you need them to be, and you get overdrive. If you want to shift, a t5 from a mustang would work, or a Tremec 6 speed if you want 6 or are planning lots of torque. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
