Transmission(short shifter)

Ok, I'm sure I'll get a few comments to the effect of,"use the search feature", so for the record, I did, and either I am an idiot(probably) or it's not there(not likely).

I am trying to find a short shifter that I can use with my 79 280zx, it is all stock and although I'm not sure what tranny I have(5 speed) I have read here and there that I can use a shifter from a ford.

If anybody can clear this up for me, preferably sans wise:ass: remarks, I would greatly appreciate it.

The Ford short shifter can only be used on the turbo models which used a t5 transmission. Non turbo is different. I don't know of any available for the zx, but I think I read somewhere that a s30 short shifter could be modded to work.

Here's a link to a guy who's modded the short shifter brackets from an earlier transmission and mounted them on an '81-'83 N/A box.

I even had to do some modification of the MSA kit brackets to fit my '78 5 speed as well.

I sketched up a bracket that can be used to adapt the MSA Short Shifter to the ZX Nissan 5-speeds. I am going to make a prototype tomorrow and test fit it over the weekend. I'll post a drawing for the parts when it works.
