Guest Anonymous
my borg t5 bell housing has one stripped out hole for the tranny to bolt to the bell housing. now i was thinking of just getting a slightly longer bold and putting a nut on the inside of housing cause it looked to have the space. ?????? is that a crazy idea or not. thanks
Guest greimann
Structurally, it would probably work. Check for interference with the fork and throw out bearing. Also, make sure your bolt is at least a grade 5 or grade 8 and use a steel washer under the nut. It obviously eliminates your ability to remove the transmission separately from the bellhousing. The real fix would be to helicoil the stripped hole. You can usually find those kits at autoparts or hardware stores.
Guest Anonymous
so the heli coil is strong enough to hold. ??? igenerally pull the motor anyways whenever doing tranny stuff. why steel not the grade 8 type washers.. or is the steel stronger?? thanks
fl327
you can heli coil it, or tap it for new threads, if the trans is out of car, i would tap for new threads, if still on car, heli coil it will hold for you
