HICKL
Ok knowledge base, I found a relatively new diff mount under my parts car and am going to put it in my good car (I had welded up my old broken one and dislike the noise, but thats a whole other thread). On to the question. I am trying to do it without dropping the Diff "again". When I took the strap off the nose and removed the bottom bolt from the mount, the nose jerked up towards the bottom of the car. I can't get to the bolts to remove the mount, nor do I think I will be able to pull it back down to original position if I get the dang thing changed out! Do I have to drop all the control arms and the diff "again" or can this be done with all that in place? Please help, knuckles bleeding. Guest Anonymous
Any weight on the wheels? IF the cars body is supported on jack stands.. put the tires on ground and see if the diff pinion comes down any. If it does come down, support the wheels on ramps. Try one of those scisssor jacks to see if it fits above the diff to push it down.(be careful) If that does not work start unbolting everything until the diff comes down.I Never had this problem... HICKL
Good idea, I haven't gotten back under there yet but I was thinking along those lines. I will take the tires off and see if that relieves some pressure. Thanks for the input. Jeff
