JKDGabe
I want to know how to indent. my gears. Have an '80 with the u-joints on the shafts and it says "1 (then an arrow pointing down) 397" and also one out of an 82 with cv's that I can't remember the numbers on. What do I look for to identify them?
Guest greimann
If you want to know the gear ratios and have the cover off, just count the teeth on the ring and the pinion and divide the numbers. Example: if there are 39 teeth on the ring and 10 teeth on the pinion, then 39/10 = 3.9:1 ratio.
Guest Anonymous
Another way because some are numbered to indicate gear ratio : Take off the rear cover plate and rotate the large ring gear until you see some numbers in the edge facing you.."37:9" is a 4.11.... "39:10" is a 3.90...."39:11" is a 3.54......"37:10" is a 3.70... An 1980 R200 diff could be a 3.70 or a 3.90,,,,, A 1982 ZX diff could be a 3.54(turbo) and 3.90 (non turbo)....
