attworth
Well, figured I might as well start one of these. I've had my car for several months, and it's finally in it's allotted space. This thing had some serious issues when I bought it (blindly, my mistake.) It's still got a LOT of issues, but those will be resolved. Here's how it looked the day I brought it home. And here's how it sits right now. Original plans were to get it streetable and drive it daily. Kept fixing things as they came up and nearly had it ready. Toyed with the idea of dumping it in favor of a cleaner car, but my wife said no, no. It has pretty bad rust, which is currently patched with fiberglass. Has a ghetto-fabulous battery tray via a welded in 1/4" thick piece of plate bent in place. All of that will be taken care of properly. This will be a long, drawn out project, as funds are in short supply. Time is not of the essence, so therefore money is no issue. Not quite set on what I'll be doing with it yet. Have some ideas, but I'll keep those close until something happens. Hope to have the drivetrain out this weekend.
attworth
Just a little update for yall. Got my motor pulled today. Took me about 3 hours. Only lost one socket, and I think I know where it is. Was planning on leaving the tranny in the car, but ended up pulling it with the motor - Oh well, less work later. Good times! More to come next weekend.
attworth
Started tearing down the motor out of boredom today. Was going to just change my bike's oil, but ended up with this. Sorry for the finger in the picture. Oh and I promise to bring my real camera with me next weekend. I have one stubborn exhaust stud that won't come out, but I'll get it eventually. The head on my car is super clean, it amazes me. Even the exhaust ports had very little carbon buildup. More to come.
attworth
Had a busy weekend. Got most of the car stripped down - it's almost ready for the rotisserie. Got all the removable body panels off, stripped most of the interior (except dash.) All that remains is the steering linkage, front and rear cross-members, and hard lines for the brakes and fuel. I know I promised better pictures, but I forgot my camera again.
attworth
Just a little update... Picked something up a while back. Nothing special - actually it's not really sought after at all - little bitty old 305. Working out details now. Also started construction of my rotisserie. Need more steel! attworth
My wife went to see a movie with her brother's family yesterday before I got off work. So, I had a little time to play around with the Z. Decided the most productive thing I could do is continue stripping the car. Removed the entire front cross-member and everything attached to it.
