Guest loveonthebeach
I've taken the cv joints off of my halfshafts for the R230 swap. My question is, to what length do they need to be shortened? I did a search but couldnt com up with anything. I think Mark told me 12" , but i can't find that e-mail. Also, if anybody could provide me any specific information on the adpater flanges so i could make my own...Any information would be appreciated. On another note: Anybody looking to do the r230 conversion - a GREAT place to find parts is http://www.car-part.com . It took me a while to find cheap prices (i'm a cheapskate!), but i paid about between $350 and $400 shipped (diff, and each set of half shafts came from different places) for my diff and 4 halfshafts w/cv joints. Owen
How much the shafts are shortened depends on how thick your spacers are. My measurements are here, I can install them without unbolting the control arms. Try to offset the diff towards the pass. side, at least in mine, the output flange of the diff was hitting the tubular part of the control arm (inner). http://www.v8zcar.com/s30z/r230-2.htm Owen
Guest Anonymous
My half shafts are 12 inches. My adaptor is 1/2 in thick. Mark
Guest loveonthebeach
Mark- Is that adaptor 1/2 thick at its thickers point, or all around? Owen- I like the documented swap, i'll use it as reference when i do mine. I couldn't find the thickness of your adaptors though, did i overlook them? Guest Anonymous
Half inch thick doughnut with two bolt patterns in it. One for R230 cv bolt pattern and one for the Z stub axel flange. Mark
