vtdds71
My '72 Z has a 4-speed manual transmission that was recently re-installed after an engine rebuild. New front and rear seals were installed as well as a new rear engine seal. I'm getting some noticeable dripping of gearbox oil out of the weep hole at the bottom of the bell-housing. Any idea what is causing this? What can I do about it? I used Castrol Hypoy 80-90W gear oil. Will the seal of the seals improve by driving the car? zedsn
Hi, sounds like your front seal is compromised. You may have damaged it on installation. You will probably need to pull your tranny again and see what the problem is.
RUZN
Usually when installing the seals I put a bit of tranny magic (sealer) or a good Diff sealant around the seal itself just incase any debri or sand or what have you is still there so it seals no matter what. Buut prolly a seal leak or maybe even the wrong seal was used.. Parts people arent always on their A game =-)
