jacob80
Hey boys, we've wired most of our megasquirt and put a battery charger on the engine to see if we could see any lights. The first thing I noticed was that our tach reads ~3000 rpms with the key in the on position. This is on a '73 with the green/yellow and the black/white connected and using the black/yellow as our switched 12v source. Another thing, our fuel pump is not wired up, but it just connected the computer to the relay board via the relay board cable and turned the key to the on position, just to see if I would see any lights, but there were none. We have the distributor 12v and the resistor switched 12v power sources hooked up, should we be seeing lights by now? Hey, thanks guys! Matt Cramer
A short spike in the RPM can happen when you turn the power on. But does it stay there if you leave it on for a minute?
Sean73
My 73 tach works with just the BW hooked up to coil (+). I used the GW as just another source for switched power.
jacob80
Ok, well come to find out, we had a little wiring issue. The tach now does not do the 3000 rpm thing. The only thing that is worrysome right now is the fact that we turn the key to the on position and there is no lights on the computer box. But, we haven't configured the computer yet for our setup, but it does work when we put the stimulator to it. Is this ok? Would the fuel pump not being hooked up cause the box not to light up? How is the megasquirt/relay board powered? Is its main power source the 12v off the distributor and the switch from the resisted source that T's off the distributor wire? Matt Cramer
There is no power-on light on the MS. The lights respond to things like RPM and temperature and are frequently off when the engine is not running.
jacob80
Alright, good to hear. We actually got the engine to crank over, thanks for all the help! Now onto tuning, yay
