DKaine
Hey guys, I've been trying to find a transaxle that will bolt to a VG series engine, and also handle some significant horsepower. I would prefer to find something that had a LSD, but if it's not possible I won't complain. (too loud, anyway) Anyone have any suggestions? proxlamus©
um... FWD application? or are you looking for a rear mounted transaxle?
kiwi303
some FWD VG powered Maxima here in NZ, JDM, not sure if they made it to the US.
DKaine
um... FWD application? or are you looking for a rear mounted transaxle? Well, if I could find a rear mounted one that would be superb, but I think I'm going to have to go with availability over ideal. I had looked at the transaxle from a maxima, but I wasn't sure it would handle the power from a VG30DETT
GrayZee
Check out maxima.org, I think there are many turbocharged maximas on that forum.
Pete84
Porsche transaxles are used with SBC's all the time, would it be possible to make an adapter for a VG?
DKaine
Porsche transaxles are used with SBC's all the time, would it be possible to make an adapter for a VG? ... I NEVER would have thought of this. I work in a metal shop, so assuming that there isn't too much radical difference between the transmissions... I may be in business! Plus, it means I can mount the engine the proper direction!
ZROSSA
Or you could save some money and used a trans from an audi or earlyer renault. They were front wheel drive but the engines were mounted north south. Douglas
JustinOlson
Kennedy Engineering makes a lot of good adapter plate solutions. I have one for my early 90's audi to swap the SBC into it. http://www.kennedyeng.com/
