cary
I recently replaced one of the burned out tail lights. Then all of a sudden the interior dashboard lights, lighting on my shifter and brake lights do not light up unless I brake. Explanations anyone? greasymonkey
I had a truck come in my shop last week and the same thing happened to me. Turns out that when I took the assembly apart to replace the bulb, I knocked a wire or two loose which caused a ground. As it turned out, when the brake stop lamp switch closed, it opened another path allowing lights to work but only when switch was open. Could be related to your issue possibly. HowlerMonkey
It is because you somehow got the bulb in 180 degrees of what it should be. It is possible if you push hard enough. This will sometimes blow the fuse but it will also backfeed the parking/dash lights with power that is supposed to go to the brake light filament.
