Autometer Fuel Pressure Gauge Tubing Kits, How To Hook It Up..

Well I bought autometers 4712 which is a mechanical fuel pressure gauge and it reccomends gauge tubing kit 3227.

I was looking at some and they are running for about $40 something shipped.

Here they are.

Also jegs has the auto meter kit...

and there universal kit.

They look the same but Im not sure... too late to call jegs.

Any reccomendations for getting this set up? Basically If I was able to just run a 5/16 nylon fuel line to the gauge it should work fine wouldnt it? Do they make 5/16 barbed fittings that go to -4 AN female? Id be really happy if this would work. Alot better than $40+ for a fancy steel line.

Thanks

IMO you should look at a isolator kit if you really want to stay mechanical. There is basically a diaphram that transfers the pressure to antifreeze and that goes to the gauge.

Some about pressurized fuel in the cabin I dont like

Personally I would pay the money and go electric if you feel its that nessecary.

On my 81 turbo, itll be on the cowl. Yeah Id love to get the jegs one but Im not sure if its the same. Im gonna call them and see.

It wont be in the cabin. Itll be on the cowl in front of the windshield. Its not worth the extra like $60-70 to have it inside. It would be nice but you got to stop somewhere. :)

He did mention that he is going to install it on the cowl...

If you don't want to spend the $35, you could get some 5/16" fuel line rated for fuel injection (don't get regular fuel line, and certainly not nylon!). Then, go to a local industrial supply store that specializes in hydraulics for the fittings. You'll probably need 2 fittings to convert from 5/16" to -4AN. One thing to be aware of is that they will likely refer to the -4AN as 1/4 JIC (Joint Industrial Council). If they're a decent shop, you should be able to bring all your parts and tell them what you want to do, and they'll show you what you need. They likely won't be fancy aluminum fittings, but it'll be a lot cheaper!
