Guest JoeGasm
I am looking for a 240Z, preferably those years, and preferably stock. I don't care much for fading paint, or cosmetic blemishes to be honest, I just want one that can be a daily driver for a few months until I save up enough to install a new engine and such. I'm located in Kern County, CA (Bakersfield to be specific), and am looking for around $2500 as the highest I can go. Anyone selling in that price range contact me at jose.gonzalez661@hotmail.com or text me at (661)330-9536.
tfreer85
Hey Joe, Check out craigslist in LA and San Francisco they'll have quite a few in that price range. Also check out http://www.centralvalleyz.org they've had a couple local (to Bakersfield) show up from time to time. Out of curiosity why 70-72 models only? Guest JoeGasm
Well from all my Z buddies (which are only three, everyone else is a Honda fanboy), the 70-72 Z's had the lightest curb weight at around 2350 pounds or so. I can't find any CW for 73-74 240's, so I don't know if the weight went up a couple pounds as they said.

The only ones I personally stay away from are the 280z's. They are definitely the heaviest of the S30 models. However in my opinion, again my opinion, the minor weight differences on the 240 and 260 models isn't enough to sway me from looking at them, especially if you have an engine swap planned. If you don't stay away from 260z's as they have a lot of carb problems. Let me know if you have any questions, or any problems you aren't far from me and I'd be willing to share as much of my knowledge as I have. Good luck searching! Guest JoeGasm
I plan on swapping in an L28ET complete with fuel injection if possible and matching 5-speed transmission, unless there is a better transmission to swap in (I've heard about Z32 transmissions swapped in). Do you know how fast a stock 240Z with a stock L28ET would run in a 1/4?
tfreer85
You don't really need the Z32 transmission if you're just doing a OEM L28et, or even a midly modified L28et. The things you'll want to swap out pretty quickly would be the rear differential, to something like a 280z R-200 diff. Stock 240z with an L28ET you'd be looking anywhere from high tens to 13 if i remember correctly. Do a lot of searching around, there is a ton of great info on this board. I'm currently doing an LS1/T56 swap in a 72. Again use the search function, most of the people here don't take kindly to spoon feeding or repetitive questions. Good luck
Guest JoeGasm
Yeah, I know about the R200 swap real quick, and high tens to 13's is perfect, just what I'm looking for. And I'll use the SF.
