mark
What are you guys using for header gaskets on ported heads? I've always used the stock gasket on my stock heads but the stock gasket blocks the larger ports on the new heads. Any ideas? Thanks. mark
It's the while I'm at it syndrome. The engine was out of the car and I couldn't leave it alone no matter how hard I tried.
jt1
I fully agree. One time a rear main seal turned into almost a completely new motor for me. As it should have. jt
mark
Just a follow up here. My heads are casting 243 with a CNC port job. I was trying to use the stock manifold gaskets that came with my 2002 F body ls1. The gasket blocked part of the exhaust ports. On recommendation from Jeff Creach at Carolina Auto Masters I ordered GM part number 12612944. It seems GM redesigned these gaskets to accommodate the larger port sizes. This is now the only manifold gasket GM makes for the LS1 motors. If fits perfectly with no restrictions of the exhaust ports.
