jevmaster5
i have a 83 280, and have a non-factory tranny installed. it came from the factory as a n/a auto, but a manual swap was done for me. the problem is, the swap was done by my uncle before i received the car in the first place, and i need to get bearing for the transmission. the issue is that he does not know for sure what year the tranny is, and the only numbers that i found on the tranny do absolutely nothing for me when i search them. any help would be great! Guest Rolling Parts
Is it a non-factory (non-Nissan) transmission? What bearing (the throw-out bearing or an input shaft bearing?)? Is it a 5 speed? If it's a traditional Nissan 5 speed swap and if you are talking about needing a throw-out bearing, THEN just ask for a a 77-82 Zcar one at Oreily, AutoZone, etc and put in a new clutch disc too while you have it apart... jevmaster5
it IS a nissan tranny, im 99% sure. and its the input shaft bearing on a 5-speed. as far as new clutch goes, when he did a swap, he put a new clutch in there, and it looks to be a carbon/cerammic, disc i THINK. jevmaster5
yeah, the tranny chatters like crazy, and my car-knowledgeable relatives agree that its probably the input bearing

jevmaster5
the number that i got off the tranny is 7z63190. that's the only one i could find, and it is located on the top of the bell housing. i googled it, and it came up with nothing, so i asked for help
Guest Rolling Parts
Well, first off, the outside of the transmission is not marked with transmission "type". That's a casting number or serial number (which is the "why" Google can't find it). Have a look at your transmission and see if it looks like the picture in the previous post. http://geocities.com/inlinestroker/ratio.html
