Guest Luigi
Anyone have experience mounting an engine using a motor plate? Pictures would be nice. Advice is great. Do I need mid mounts? travel limiters? New engine is getting outta hand and I need more header room. Thanks Luigi
Turbo Meister
Here is my plate mount. No mid-mount used. No travel limiters because the engine does not move. Urethane trans mount without problems for almost 10 years. But frame rails and mounting flanges well fortified to hold estimated 800 + HP. Guest Luigi
Thanks for the pictures! Is the plate solid mounted? What thickness? What size bolts? Looks like a doubler welded where the plate is bolted? Sorry for all the questions. Looks nice. Lewis
Turbo Meister
Yes, solid mounted with 2 grade 8, 3/8" bolts on each side. Plate is 1/4" thick...standard Chevy plate from Summit Racing. But I added a small extension on the driver's side to attach the alternator. The rubber material on that side shields the alternator electrical output wire from contacting the plate. Ends are doubler welded for additional attachement rigidity...but not necessary. Ride is not harsh because I still have stock springs and struts in front and I loosen up my rear adjustable shocks when street driving.
