bumble zee
it is out of a 63 corvette, but it was a 3 speed tranny, so the engine only has 250hp. What is the difference in the 327's with the 4 speed trannys that had 300+ hp??
Guest Anonymous
I believe the only difference was the heads and cam and compression difference, not sure if the compression difference was done with smaller chambers or pistons though, some of the 327's had 11 - 1 compression (I believe it was the 1966's at like 365 gross HP). These days its hard to be real choosy in my opinion about finding 327's. Easy to fix any way. Regards, Lone
DavyZ
Ditto to what Lone just said: easy fix. Unless this is a newly freshened motor, pull it apart and stab in a new cam and correct compression pistons...voila, you're there. Davy
Guest Night_rider_383
bumble zee... ditto to what long and davyz said. I really don't see the point in looking at stock hp. It means nothing unless your doing a numbers matching restore cause all of us its gonna do some kinda of a mod to our engines right. Long was right the bigg diff. in the higher and lower hp engines was the heads, cam and compression. Lower hp 327's ran the power pak heads while the higher ones had the double hump heads.
