Timing problems

I searched, but couldn't find the answer to my problem.I was trying to adjust the timing after my turbo swap and can't seem to get adjusted right.I set the motor @ TDC and made sure the rotor was pointing to the # 1 spark plug.

I checked the mark on the damper pulley and it does line up to the "0" position on the timing plate.Turned the dizzy to the to line up to 20* deg.The motor has a rough idle.Revs fine and dosen't hesitate ect.The car dosen't have alot of power when driving. When i advance the timing it idle get's worse and the engine wants to die.

I used a timing light with out an advance feature. The car was warmed up prior to this.Rpm's were at 700.I am at a lost at what the problem is.What am i doing wrong?1983 280zx turbo
