Non-Cali Auto????

Ok, my Reluctor made contact and has a couple broken fins. I got a JY distributor and the part numbers match they are both Non-California automatic distributors. My car is a 4 speed manuel. So there been a switch somewhere over the years, obviously.

Please help,

If the dizzy is wrong that might explain some of the black smoke and poor RPMs above 5000. Airbox was wrong too with no part number on it (replaced)

OR

how do I find out if a 4spd was swapped in and is causing running problems cause of some obscure sensor that the AT has and the MT does not.

(info: my first Z 2 months, 1977 280 Odometer stopped at 56,000, 4spd, No Hx from prior owners or mods but appears stock)

The black smoke is killin me it already sounds like a diesal now its starting to billow smoke like one. Help please

I believe everything is the same between cali and federal z's (s30's anyway) But i never cared much for the 70's bosch EFI systems, also the early z car transmissions dont have any sensors or computers for them, just the reverse switch. the intake from the AFM forward wont have any effect on a stock car, unless its choking it severely. It sounds like you need to check your air flow meter (AFM) for the running rich problem.

also, think out your question and organize your messages, it's ok to spend 10 minutes proof reading and editing your message before you post. ;)
