Carbs sticking on First Z

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Im going to pickup my first Z this weekend and I am super excited.

The guy selling the car said that the Carbs stick. But It runs and is drivable.

What should I do before I drive it home? Is there an spray or something I should hit them with before I take off? I'm sure there is a thread for this somewhere but I was unable to find it.

Any help getting this thing home in one piece will be appreciated.

thank you,

- Alex

Two places the carbs stick.Pull the air cleaner assy off and check the slides at the front of the carbs,if they stick use 2+2 Gum cutter and clean out the carbon. The other place is at the lower base of the carb where the center slide is.It should move up and down when you move the choke lever. Also check the oil level in the carbs(ATF works well).Have fun

If it's stock, there may be a tendency for the entire throttle linkage to bind, and then all the sudden let go, causing a rather sudden jerk/surge. On mine, a shot of white lithium spray grease on all the ball/socket joints does the trick loosening everything up.
