shawn83zxt
Sorry about the title, just thought I would make it easier for people searching who may have the same problem. Here it goes! I've successfully started the engine. The only problem: it won't stay running, because there is no fuel! The stock ZX fuel pump is still in use. When I turn the ignition, I can hear the pump humming. This was not always so, but that problem was fixed. When it began working, I heard fuel leaking underneath the car. I replaced a fuel line, and the leak stopped. Now one would expect that the pump would now prime the fuel line, and I would have fuel to my carb! This is not so! I've been working on the car all day, and I'm exhausted. Anyone want to throw some ideas out there? And yes, there is gas in the tank PS/ A mechanical pump is also being used, should I just bypass the pump? 280zwitha383
I always ran mechanical pumps on the ZX's with the stock electric pump bypassed. You might have blown the diaphragm out of your mechanical one with your electric pump actually. Either way you only need one, either regulate the electric pump or bypass it. shawn83zxt
I don't think the mechanical pump is blown. The fuel doesn't make it that far! I will bypass the stock pump and post my results. Thanks!
shawn83zxt
Bypassed the stock fuel pump, still no results. I pulled the mech pump fuel line, and cranked the engine with my finger over it. Felt no suction at all, mechanical pump may have been broken this whole time.
