gasket for float bowl question?

DRFTEM

Recommended Posts

Ok I just noticed that my float was obviously messed up as the bowl was leaking gas from the gasket. so i opened it up and adjusted the float to were it should be according to what I have been told. but I dont have a gasket for sealing the float bowl. Can I use rtv for a temp seal?

Have you though about buying some 'gasket paper' and make a new gasket, sounds like you had the original one at some point, so you could use that as a template.

You can run it without the gaskets. Should only be a problem if your floats are set incorrectly causing the bowl to overflow as you said it was. If you have the gaskets on, and the bowls are overflowing, the fuel flows out and sits in the back rear corner of the air filter anyway (this is assuming the original vent lines are attached etc.). As the guy in the Z Therapy video says, having fuel pool in the filter might be slightly worse than just having it drip out from the bowl.

If it were me, I'd just run it without the gaskets until you got some from Z Therapy or any other rebuild kit (like from Black Dragon). The standard kits are cheap as anyway!
