First, I am a new-comer to this site. After reading a few of the forum I got very interested in doing this conversion. Please help me locate the right parts for this conversion.

1> From what year’s GM vehicle should I look to locate the 350 V8/T56.

2> I know I will have to get the JTR manual.

Thanks in advance for any help.

if you want the 350/t56 combo, you may just want to go to a salvage yard and get a combo of the lt1/t56 out of a 94-97 firebird transam/camaro Z28. it'll be the best option because they'll include the wiring harness, slave/master cylinders, ecu, and etc. Plus, it's already assembled and in running condition, and they'll usually give you a guarantee

as for mounts, the jTR manual has exact specs on how to make your own, or you can buy them from stealth conversions (jtr subsidiary, i think), and they're listed on their site (also in the manual)

Umm, I don't know where you've been reading - what truck tranny and engine? If you want a TBI injected engine the trucks have them but their transmissions are probably completely different and NOT a T56. If you've heard of a T56 in a truck somewhere I'd be interested in hearing about it as would others I'm sure. icon_confused.gif

Go find a GM wrecking yard in your state or nearby state and get the whole engine/tranny combo as Auxilary stated.

As a general rule, do not put a truck engine in a car. Most truck transmissions are not an easy fit, and the engines are cammed for low revs and truck torque; this is not what you need in the Z.
