powershotnt
I have some ideas kicking around to change the front end slightly. First would be the hood. Since I am going with the V-8 I was thinking about cutting the hood right by the radiator brace and having my buddy fabricate a brace modification to mount the hinges there. That would leave me the ability to make the old lower part of the hood a fixed body panel. This would allow me to make modifications to that new staionary front peice..opening it up to look similar to a cobra type front end..not that radical but similar...Still playing with the idea and doing all kinds of searches on this site for interesting and new ideas. I wish I knew a good artist that could do some drawings!!!! Hey Mr. Foose..you got a few minutes?
ZXR_KiD
I think if you shortened the hood a few inches and relocate the mounts further back, as powershotnt, mentioned, you if your good with fiberglass, you could cut a couple inches out of the tips of the buckets and reshape them to match the new hood length, fill the bumper slots then yea, you could make it look right. I have noticed a difference with the stock nose on the car, by pulling the hood release on the highway the hood will float up onto the 2ndary latch and the nose of the car feels a touch more planted, perhaps with more exhausting vents in the hood it would help the stability of the bumperless s130s. maybe cut the cap off the pass side hood vents (early cars esp) in theory even drill a few holes into the top of the firewall into the cowel tunnel wich vents straight through the cowel vent/wiper area. just a thought for people to consider
powershotnt
Z car sells aftermarket hood vents for the S130 that look more open to allow more airflow. I am also going to raise the hood "bubble" about 1/2 inch in front raising to 1.5-2in in the rear to allow more airflow thru and under W.O.T. allow more air for intake.Possibly putting side vents on the new scoop look also to allow more flow thru? I've got a few years before I get to that point and have lots of time to kick ideas around. When I go to the V-8 I will not be using the stock air intake and from what I can tell that is the only reason to get infront of the radiator from the top(refer to my previous post). If you modify the "new" fixed front hood peice to where some vents not only allow more air in but also angle them to get more down force on the front to alleviate the "floating" problem. I also kinda like the "shark fin" idea from a previous post on the rear of the front fender. Maybe a radical new shape instead of the fin look. To balance that look you could incorporate the same on the front of the rear quarter panel to balance it. My only concern would be increased wind noise???? Dangit I need that computer program to play with the design of this car!!!!
