Guest comeandzpa
I was reading the manual for my 81 280ZX the other day, and noticed that it listed the curb weight as 3310. This struck me as a VERY high weight, considering that the 240s were around 2400 pounds. Is all of this weight in the updated saftey/emissions equiptment? If not, where does it come from? Mudge
The turbo car will weigh a bit more, but I would say the 81 is closer to 2700-2800, 3300? That is more like a 3rd gen car, and the 350Z which is in the 3300 range. Beefier body, smog crap, bumpers, it all adds up.
Guest greimann
Look at that weight specification again it probably says GVW or gross vehicle weight. That is the maximum weight that the car can carry full of passengers and cargo. Road and track did a write up on the 280ZX (link on my website) in 1978 and they tested the curb weight of a coupe at 2825#. Your 3310 GVW means you can carry 485# of people and cargo.
