Drax240z
Just wondering if a few things are available in powder coating. First, can you get glossy powdercoating? And second, does anyone know of a "clearcoat" powercoating that I could get done on bare metal? Thanks, ------------------ Drax240z 1973 240z - L28TURBO transplant on the way! http://members.xoom.com/r_lewis/datsun.html
Guest Anonymous
Powdercoating is more for cosmetics than protection..... I'd get your stuff jet-hotted! It's 1000x more durable than powdercoating. ------------------ Morgan morgan@z31.com http://carfiche.com http://z31.com
Drax240z
This is for a set of wheels. And I don't plan on spending an arm and a leg on them, because they aren't going to be the final wheels on the car... Thanks for your input, but is anyone able to answer my question? ------------------ Drax240z 1973 240z - L28TURBO transplant on the way! http://members.xoom.com/r_lewis/datsun.html
pparaska
Yes, you can get glossy powder coating, in many colors. Just contact a powdercoater and they can tell you just how glossy it is.
Guest Anonymous
Jet-hot has a heat dissapative coating. Would be cool to have that on the backsides of your wheels to help radiate heat. Calipers too! ------------------ Morgan morgan@z31.com http://carfiche.com http://z31.com
BLKMGK
Good powdercoating DOES protect. It's so tough that the only way it comes off is with serious abrasion or by a hard impact striking the item. I've got a powdercoasting shop near me and am intending to get a bunch of stuff done at once for the Z. Did some stuff for the Mustang and it was sealed up tight - much better than paint. Eastwood also sells a powdercoating kit. It stinks if you bake it in the oven though but since I need to replace my oven anyway and rewire the garage it may end up a fixture out there The woman will be happy with a new oven I'm sure!
