Guest Anonymous
On one side the paint is cracked and the edge of the hatch opening doesn't seem perfectly straight. Is this where that leaded seam is? If so, how do you fix it, if not, what's wrong? ------------------ Morgan http://z31.com/~morgan/s30 http://carfiche.com
pparaska
Yep. That's the place where the body is soldered together at the outer surface. There are several layers of steel in that area, as can be seen in the Datsun Shop manual. The inside is welded together. I think a good thing to do would be to melt out all the solder and Mig weld the area and grind/smoot it down. Wished I'd done that. It seems the street rodder guys do this all the time. ------------------ Pete Paraska - 73 540Z - Marathon Z Project - pparaska@home.com">pparaska@home.com -
clint78z
A rear strut brace will prevent this from happening again in the future
pparaska
...as will a good roll bar tied to the strut towers near the isolator attachment. Marc Sayer used to preach this point alot on the IZCC list. Seems he saw the benefits first hand many times.
Guest Anonymous
Maybe I'll hit the lottery and come into $4-5k or so that I don't have anything better to do with and get those seams fixed, all the little things done, and then a nice paint job, inside and all. ------------------ Morgan http://z31.com/~morgan/s30 http://carfiche.com
