pparaska
On that same site, I found my hero. Check this guy out. INCREDIBLE fabrication skills to say the least. http://www.clubcobra.com/chucksdaytona.htm and http://members.aol.com/coupechuck/index.html Oh my Gawddd. To be able to do something like that! Oh yeah, the guy that built that White/blue one is building another: http://www.clubcobra.com/ray_daytona.htm BTW, Chris, Isn't Glen's car the same as that site that John posted above this, only red? He's working on getting it road worthy again, BTW. 327 with a big hairy cam, old hotrod stuff, etc. [This message has been edited by pparaska (edited November 29, 2000).]
Drax240z
Oh my... that is just incredible. Take the time to follow Pete's second link and read throguh all 9 pages... I've honestly never been in such awe from a car before. Wow. I've always loved the daytona's, in fact for years and years they were my favorite cars ever. This is making me think that way again. I just can't get over that... ------------------ "Gimme Fuel, Gimme Fire, Gimme that which I desire" -Metallica Drax240z 1972 240z - L28TURBO transplant on the way! http://members.xoom.com/r_lewis/datsun.html http://members.home.net/drax77/newpage.html

Guest John Adkins
INCREDIBLE! Chuck's scratchbuilt Cobra coupe is an amazing work of art.... Is anyone going to get a english wheel and shot bag and start building Z car body panels from scratch? I'm not that talented with a hammer and torch , so I hope somebody knows something about the Cobra coupe kit for reskinning a Datsun Z.... Guest Anonymous
John, I believe the Cobra Coupe in the link you posted is a kit developed by a fella from Richmond, Virginia. He has now moved and I lost track of him. Anyway, when I worked at a place called "The Z Center" in Richmond as a summer job during high school the owner was trying to get into the kit car business. The name of the car was going to be TBA Cobra. TBA stood for Totally Bad Ass...I actually helped in the development of the kit. It was very interesting and quite a learning experience. I saw the car go from what looking like a rolling ball of foam to the Cobra body, it was pretty cool!!! That all aluminum Cobra from Pete's post is incredible!!! SpeedRacer
Sorry I don't know what happened to the Cobra Coupe that was mounted on a Z car but Factory Five http://www.factoryfive.com is coming out with a new one based on a custom frame. I think both R&D Design Concepts and a place called Upstate Super Replicars have versions as well. I'll see what I can dig up in the archives. Ready for the Ferrari/Cobra Wars - Round II? Guest ZSource
Chris was right. Tom McNalle of Richmond, VA marketed the Cobra Daytona kit many years ago and he had setups for Chevy smallblock as well as Ford Windsor engines. When he left town, his molds disappeared and I haven't heard about them since then. The car was definitely a looker. ------------------ Ben Herman
