Guest JAMIE T
http://www.alphalink.com.au/~donhill/detailso.htm Thought this would be interesting to those looking at G-nose's Jamie Deathstar
DavyZ
His paint scheme impresses me even more than the G-Nose does! Very impressive car. I've seen pictures in various places on the web about that car--very sweet racing car. David
Guest MM_280Z
Why does he have an R180 in a race car? I thought those were supposed to be weak.
Guest Anonymous
When this first posted I asked myself the same thing, seems like a R200 would be more appropriate.. Lone
pparaska
I've heard it's usually the spider gears that go. And I've heard the early R-180s (open or LSD?) had 2 spider gears and went to 4 for strength. If it's not a high powered car, some prefer the R180 for gear choice, and weight reduction. Scottie-GNZ
The R200 is certainly stronger but the issue of strength has alway been in discussions of supporting a high hp/torque hybrid. This might be a race car but it weighs in less that 2100lbs and although it is or will be putting out 340+hp, it will be in the 9000 RPM range. Such an application has a completely different torque curve and how power is applied.
DavyZ
Maybe the LSD unit or the "locker" unit makes it stronger? It's the ring gear that is the difference in size here, right?
Guest Anonymous
In some racing classes you have to use the r180 diff due to class rules, I noticed this mentioned on another site (http://www.zcar.com). The car of the month (october 2000) was running in the SCCA club racing class in michigan, he also has to use the stock 4spd transmission.
