paring down wiring harnesses

Hi, I have been working on a 1983 280ZX Turbo GL Model and have been removing all the optional components and associated wiring, tracing the wiring back to various splices and connectors, or even the fuse block. These include such items as rear defog/wiper, power antenna, voice warning system, cruise control (ASCD), all interior lamps and chimes. Now I am led to believe I will have serious problems due to the interconnectivity between this wiring and the necessary circuits for the engine etc. But from what I've seen in unraveling the rat's nest of wires, the components are all wired in parallel to the essential functions, not in serial. Please let me know if I have made a grave error in my approach. By the way, the car doesn't run right now due to separate problems with the ignition circuit. Thanks.

Where in Atlanta do you live? I would like to come by and take a look at your work, and talk Z's one weekend.
