Guest Anonymous
After getting several rust bumps on my Cowl to Hood panel I found the source of the problem to be water gathering in the foam rubber pads glued to the bottom of the panel. I was able to salvage the panel but wondered the function of these pads in the first place. I have a 71 240z.Do they really need to be repaced and if so what would be a better material to use? DavyZ
The only thing I can think of is to eliminate noise. I have also wondered if they are really needed. If so, I would look at some kind of rubber or even foam rubber with water repellant properties. Shoot, even Dynamat would work. Davy
Guest Anonymous
Thanks for quick response! The panel may act as a noise transmitter without some dampening, but who could notice over a V-8s normal rumble? Anybody have other ideas? pparaska
I think it's there as a limiter on how much you can move the panel downward by leaning on it, etc.
