If you can find it at a speed shop, try VHT high-temp paint. I personally feel that the ones from Eastwood, et al, that need to be cured are probably the best, besides powdercoating which is the best if you can afford it.

FWIW, I have yet to find a spray on exhaust paint that lasts more than 5 or 6 heating/cooling cycles. I have a tin of paint that we use on our big 6000hp compressor engines' turbo housings that don't need to be cured. It is brush on stuff, but I haven't tried it yet on my headers. According to the label, it can withstand up to 1600 degrees, and you can only apply a second coat after a few days after the first coat was applied, so I infer from this that it does some serious curing in the mean time. When I get home I will get the product details if you are interested.

tim could you give me the info on the brush on paint. sounds like something that would work. i used to be able to get black powder coating done for free but i moved so that is gone now. my friend worked on the assembly line for aircraft parts and he would just put parts on the conveyor belt they would get sprayed and baked and he would be at the end to grab them.
