You are awesome!! I always have a fear of using parts from other makes or generic parts in general because of all the fitment issue's people run into when doing these same repairs on their own cars. it looks like you are having great luck with your project. The JC Whitney seal# 26 is an awesome find. please keep us informed on the fitment because I am in need of everything you just did to your car.

well thanks for checking it out, if you have any questions on how to get these items installed just send me a PM or ask on here. these last few weeks have been a time of great luck in terms of finding parts and ive gotten almost everything that ive wanted to get done in the time frame that i set for myself. the jc whitney seals should come in next week or so, but as soon as i get it in, i will post pictures and give a review on fitment.

ok so, not going to get much work done today, party at my house. but i did manage to put down some walmart weatherstrip to try and prevent against exhaust fumes in the cabin. i got a roll of 25 ft for $3 and it seems like pretty solid stuff. its soft with an adhesive backing and if it doent work i will just rip it off.

WOOO !!! my brother just got back from the MSA shop in Anaheim and he picked up my exhaust system. its the performance setup for the 3 into 2 headers. its 2 1/2 all the way back to a dynomax muffler. i snapped a few pics of what came in the box and how everything looks roughly put together. the setup is a slip together kit with exhaust clamps.

kit came with

- 3 pipes

- 4 pipe clamps

- 1 chrome tip

- 1 dynomax muffler

- 1 dynomax sticker

- 2 exhaust hangars

after closer inspection i noticed some pretty deep spiral scratches along with some horizontal cuts on the exhaust tip. got me pretty upset because i paid alot for the kit and the only part that will actually show is damaged. i emailed them but they had closed already, i hope i get a new tip.

well msa didnt respond to my email, but when i called today they said that i could go in and switch one out. i test fitted the exhaust system yesterday and everything seems fine. the muffler hangs a bit low but thats due to space constraints, and i had to modify the msa y pipe considerably in order for it to fit with my no name headers. a few cuts and alot of welding later it fits the way i had in mind. i took the grinder to it and am currently painting it, but i dont have my nikon with me today, so... no pics if i cant find an alternate camera.

the exhaust sounds really good when its working but the webers are giving me a hard time. i just ordered new floats for them and they should come in within the week. ive tried so hard with them but i think im going to put them up for sale, im just not skilled enough to deal with them. its hot today but i will take pictures and try to get some videos posted. wish me luck.

hot one today. high 90s from 8 am to 6pm. but i got new spark plug wires and the car is running (but not well) my brothers and i took a shot at trying to tune the carbs and i think we are moving forward, but i think i will see a specialist in the near future.

there is a massive ticking but im pretty sure its a leak at the headers because my headers didnt have the correct bolt holes for some of the mounting spots, im going to fix that sooner or later.

the car idles very low while in gear but very high in park, but the weird thing is that the car idles in drive at 25 mph. took a video of it in my driveway for u guys to look at, you can hear the change and the leak.

was thinking about burning out .... but its my driveway and neighbors were out.

washed it again today, our cars get dusty every few days due to the wind and location

DSC_0003.jpg

put in all new hoses and everything is bolted up

DSC_0005.jpg

muffler without the tip. the height and depth are ok but not perfect

DSC_0006.jpg

sucks up close to the body when u get under the car

DSC_0007.jpg

its pretty snug in there but i think im going to alter some parts to get the desired fit.

So how does it sound? and please let me know if that seal you have going on for the deck help to keep the exhaust fumes from entering the cabin. this is the only thing that truly makes me not want to drive my z all the time.

I did the exact same thing to my 240 except I went all the way around the hatch because the gasket seemed to fit perfectly between the ridge in the hatch, but I needed to make a cut where the arms of the hatch connect to the roofline. It definitely helped a little bit, but I still need to put in the other gasket around the rim of the hatch from a kia to make the rear hatch completely sealed and hopefully to fully keep all the fumes out. If you already have that piece in, installing this should at least help a little. If not check your rear lights. Sometime the fumes can sneak though there.

i did some driving last night and i am very happy with the way the sound deadening came out. it is extremely quiet in there with noise coming mostly from the firewall, doors, and windows. i went into it not expecting much but my time and money actually seemed to have been worth it.

Don't see to many members from Menifee! My parents are over in Temecula B)

Are you going to switch over to a 5 speed?

yea there are only a handful of Zs in the area, but temecula has the datsun heritage museum and a strong group of ZCCIV members in the area but i havent been able to make it to the meetings.

i plan on doing the 5 speed swap because the 4 speed auto isnt any good.

worked for a solid 3 hours trying to tune the carbs, but every time i seemed to be getting close, it would end up being a let down when i would try to drive it. the tuning goes fine in the driveway but when it gets on the street it just putters then dies.i think i will buy the colortune kit after i do some reading up.

ive been using this site as my guide.
