Cable
On Monday me and another friends of mine helped Hybrid member and friend (MilesZ) pull a R200 3.70 geared unit from a '86 300zx non-turbo out from a local wrecking yard and installed it the same day in his '73 240z. The ring and pinion seemed nice and tight to me and the oil was changed after install (80w-90), before running. Anyway, the R200 is quiet until 25 mph or so and then it starts to whine. Ideas/thoughts? Thanks!! Edited June 3, 2010 by Cable
510six
Sounds like the front pinion bearing in a long nose R200.Mine made a high pitched noise past about 30mph, replaced it and the whine (it is a relative term with a solidly mounted diff) went away. http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php?/topic/64073-r200-nla-front-pilot-bearing/page__hl__R200%20pinion%20bearing
