georgiaz
Can anyone tell me approximately how much adjustment (front/back up/down)there is to play with on the door on a 75 280? I have the doors off and the rest of the car is out of town at a friend's shop having a quarter panel put on. He scared me at first when he asked the question, but I found out that he was just checking before he did final welding. We are going to reinstall the door just to make sure everything is squared up before hand.
Guest Anonymous
Door Adjustment: I would recommend that you replace the door before welding the quarter panel on. The reason being the "door space" must be square. Otherwise, the door gaps will not be evenly spaced arounf the door. The factory allows for alot of adjustment. But you can still slot the adjustment holes, shim hinges etc. if necessary. Simply put, if the door area is not square, one or more door gaps will uneven and no minor adjustment will fix it. georgiaz
Thanks for the advice. I will get he door to him Monday and we will get it put bak on before we proceed with the quarter panel. The article on Zcar.com was quite thorough and informative. Almost as good as the info that I have gotten on this site over the past year.
