Guest Anonymous
I went to work with a grinder and a chisel and cut out the battery tray and the damaged area underneath. I'm sure this is a pretty common problem. Has anyone else encountered this , and how did you fix it? Can a patch panel be bought to repair the body under the tray? Im planning to move the battery to the back anyway.
Guest Anonymous
I haved two with rust so I HAD them cut out & but a box added lower in the car ( even with frame rail ) to lower center of gravity at the same time it takes more time but cooler in the long run. Take care NOT to use a big battery and DO'NT get it in the way of the wheel clearrace.
DavyZ
Look for Pete Paraska's site (pparaska)--he has detailed information on curing the rust ills in that part of the car, with great pictures too. (At least I think it was Pete's site) Someone correct me if I'm wrong... Davy
pparaska
I drilled out the spot welds that hold in the tray, found a bunch of surface rust, and perforation at the firewall! I simply patched it up (and didn't worry too much about hiding the weld seam either).
