kce
I've seen a few threads on doing a 5-lug conversion. My question is why would you go with a 5-lug pattern over the stock 4-lug pattern? Is it just because of the greater variety of 5-lug wheels? Better brake choices for 5-lug hubs?
emeraldlion
I think from what I've read most people swap to 5 lug to open up wheel options. There is a plethora of wheel sizes and styles available in the 5x4.5. I have heard some say that 5 lugs is a little stronger but I don't know how true that is. We have lots of members running 4 lugs without problems so it doesn't seem like that is necessary.
kce
I figured that was the case, but it seems like a lot of effort and expense just to gain access to a greater variety of wheel options. Is the choice in 4-lug wheels really that limited? It seems pretty decent to me. Maybe it's just one of those things where you absolutely *need* a particular wheel and it's only available in 5x4.5 pattern...?
Challenger
I figured that was the case, but it seems like a lot of effort and expense just to gain access to a greater variety of wheel options. I think that voids every modification on this website. haha
jdizzy204
a lot of people who run wide flares and big brakes need the wider range of offsets and widths that 5 lug offers. There are definitely options when you stay 4 lug but they are more difficult to come across compared to 5 lug.
