I just pulled the r200 diff. out of a 75 2+2 man. I It thought it would be a 3.54, it's a 3.70. I'm swapping it into my early 260 that has a r180 3.36 clsd.(blown) I'm doing the OBX, 300ZXT cvs, so I want the right combo. 400hp 383 sbc. 700r4 and as tall of tires as will work. 25 in. tall I'm thinking. It's my dd. I liked the 3.36 but it was with a th350. .02 welcome

Ok, use the search button and you'll find lots of information.

Several of the Chevy performance sites extoll the benefit of the 700r4 as being the lower first gear, allowing you to run tall gear in back without losing torque multiplication "out of the hole". and to run 1800 rpm @ 60mph or better once you are into the OD and converter lockup. A great combination/compromise.

I'll be running a LM7 with cam, the newer electronic version of the 700r4, with an R200 3.36 with 300ZXT cls with 300zxt CV universal. I'm shooting for something around 1800 @65 in cruise.

It is all a matter of how you plan to use the Z. Mine will be a DD with lots of long trips expected.
