Aftermarket 240sx Brake Bracket Measurements.

Recommended Posts

I need to know all the measurements necessary to have my own set of 240sx brake brackets machined. A diagram that I could print off would be great. I'm having some troubles doing the measurements myself and was wondering if there were any diagrams that would include enough measurements for my machinist to make them. I know there is an image floating around on how to machine the maxima brackets but I need a diagram and measurements for a bracket like the Modernmotorsports 240sx bracket. If you help me out and you need a pair I would be willing to have a few extra sets to be made. Also if someone would be willing to help me figure it out (I don't want to make someone else have to do all the work) I would love to learn how to figure it out myself so I have that skill down the road.

Thanks,

Nathan

Didn't I try to help you with this? My brackets actually do fit the 240sx calipers with the zx rotors. The diagram you had already is the measurements you need. Your obstacle is going to be paying somebody to do all the programing (this is quite expensive). Then actually pay for materials and machine work. While finding a machinist that will do just one part for you. I am making a few changes to the design of mine. Then I will get a pricing layout for the number of brackets made how much a set will cost. If you would be interested let me know. If you need some pictures on the car, let me know. I will take some. I think you got the idea that I was just being an ass when you kept asking questions. It really had seemed you were asking the same question phrased a little different. Feel free to PM me and I am willing to talk on the phone about dimensions and how I did it. If you really want to make your own, I have no problem with it. I will figure out what it will take to get my brackets to a lower cost than the ones Modern Motorsports sells. I seriously was just opening up options to get these parts from somewhere else.

I never really asked you for the full dimensions on your brackets because you were taking a different route then what I wanted to do, Since I have to make a pair for me and a few for the local guys around here plus I have a pretty good machinist who is willing to help me out for a fair deal, I decided I want to do my own. The reason I kept asking the same questions is because I didn't feel like they were being addressed and it was still a concern for me, If your changing your brackets to be more of a 45 degree angle to the strut tube and using the three bolt design, I would be interested, otherwise I will stick to making my own, I want to stick with whats know and proven to work fine and trusting a somewhat new design for a brake system is a little risky in my book. If your going more of the Modern motorsport design I would love to talk dimensions sometime.

Ok, I can understand that. Well, if you have questions still, I can help to the best of my ability. I could modify my brackets for a 45 degree angle, it would be very simple. I will probably have to do the drawing over again though instead of going back and changing what I already have. The two bolt design wont but an issue, but I understand where you concern is at with it. If you use the measurements from that drawing of the one that was the 90 degree bracket. It will have everything right, you will just have to set the caliper holes at a 45 degree angle from the other bolt holes. This is actually very simple, the dimension tool in the program will allow you to do this, but be sure to do it in the right order. If you dimension something before another thing. It may pose to be a constraint in the design. A friend of mine has a program that can tell you the shearing points and how much stress is on the item so I am going to try to get him to draw it up. That way I can show you exactly where stress is, plus if I can, it will tell me where I can cut down on material.
