BAlford
I just bought a real nice 82ZX with a 350 eng & trans. We are going to have to replace all of the wiring. Is there some place we can buy the wiring harness complete. We checked the painless harness but would rather have an original Z harness. These are pictures of the car: http://www.waskomtexas.com/zcar Any other suggestions? waskomtexas@waskomtexas.com
DavyZ
Very nice Kaminari body kit--really does justice to the car's lines. Overall a very decent looking ride. I hope you like it! From what I have read (and I read here a lot), the general consensus has been that the Painless harness is really good and "easy" to install. Owen comes to mind as having said positive things about installing it. As far as I knnow, the ZX wiring harness did not have the problems found on some of the older Z's. My guess is that with all of their modifications and the fact that they have an alarm or at least had an alarm, the existing harness has been chopped up. At the car dealership I worked at, we always found cars that had aftermarket alarm systems to have electrical problems and phanton problems that just seemed to never go away. Consider this: the Painless system is most likely LESS than the stock ZX harness. I guess it depends on how much money you want to spend (ultimately) and who is installing it. Just my $.02 Davy
SpeedRacer
I think MSA http://www.zcarparts.com/ carries the wiring but you will find it very expensive. I used the 18 circuit Painless harness in my car and found it easy to install. I placed the fuse box over the dead pedal on the drivers side and went from there. I have never had a problem since.
