  1. I think that there is a device sold by: http://www.dakotadigital.com/ that connects to the distribtor of a V8 that makes a digital dash speedometer red correctly. Or maybe it was a 90 degree drive with a changed ratio that makes the speedometer read correctly. I have forgot which is it.
  2. This web site is a good place to list a car, but I am looking for others. If you have seend the Craiglist, it is a great place to list about anything that you wish to sell. Anyone know of another place to list items for sale like the Craig List? http://www.craigslist.com/
  3. My car has door openers but not the door popers. I bought a set but never installed then.

  5. Yes I am sure that it is a power rack and pinion. What does a new one cost or are there rebuilt. Hay, also how do you show the picture of your car on this forum?
  6. My 82 Z is leaking power steering fluid. I don't drive the car much but it is leaving a big spot onder the car. I think it is coming out of the passenger side of the steering arm. I am wondering if I can change just some seal or will I have to replace the complete assembly.
  7. I am a commerical artist and I see some art talent in your drawings. Don't care much for the wing on the back. And you are right my Z may be dated some what I t was a "Show Queen" 12 to 15 years ago on the "Thunder on Wheels" curcit. I think it won First a couple of times. But I am dated too, 64 years. It probably was showing about when you were riding a stick horse.
  8. Enough said, http://www.waskomtexas.com/zcar/
  9. You might try 4 small speakers like this. http://www.waskomtexas.com/zcar/re_car/woofers.html We have added, since these pictures were made, a new radio/DVD/CD player, a TFT LCD monitor where the rear view mirror was, a rear viewing camera and two new speakers up in the corners above the woofers. We can watch a movie with sround sound.
  10. The original speakers do not exist. I had in mind puting one speaker on the voice modual for it alone. http://waskomtexas.com/zcar/re_car/woofers.html
  11. Hey, Lighten up. You sound like my wife. The monitor is for looking out the back, since the speaker wall blocks the rear view mirror. The DVD's are only for when I am parked.
  12. I also have shakers under the seats, high range and mid range speakers. Also we just installed a DVD/CD radio with surround sound, a TFT LCD monitor in place of the rear view mirror and a color video camera looking back so we can see out the back. Watching a DVD movie that has a lot of base is a great experence in our car.
  13. I have 4 small speaker behind the seats. http://waskomtexas.com/zcar/re_car/woofers.html

  15. So, know one knows how the voice modual works.
  16. It will be OK with me if she talks at the proper times. Some training is needed. How do I train her to speak only when she is supposed to speak?
  17. I guess this is a normal woman problem. I have been hearing this noise in the rear of my 1982 280ZX. I have had it running for over a year now. I had never checked it out because once the radio and the engine, a SBC, was running the noise went away. Well the other day I had the hatch up and was working on some sound equipment down near the spare tire well with the key on. There was the noise again. I took a closer look and listened real close. It was a womans voice, going on and on. Sounded normal for a woman but how long had she been in the wheel well. She will not shut up, normal. I cain't hear what she is saying but I cain't leave her in there. If she gets untied no telling how much damage she might do. I sprayed some throat spray in her mouth (hooked up a speaker) and she went on and on. She is saying something about the doors being open, I'm out of gas (women really worry about that), the lights are on, etc. Well anytime that the key is on she is raving on and on. If she would just speak at the proper time it would be OK but she won't stop. I had to choke her (unpluged the wires). She shut up till I stopped choking her. Anyone got a fix for this problem other than what I do with my wife, duct tape?
  18. Sorry, I could not help posting this link. http://www.waskomtexas.com/zcar/
  19. OK, this is a progress report. We were using the wrong wires. With the speaker wire connected to the yellow/red wire that is the third from the right on the top the voice come through the speaker. The problem now is that it will not shut off, it runs all the time and speaks all of the warnings. Any Suggestions?
  20. I have a couple of extra digital dashes. If you are still having trouble contact me.
  21. We have a 1982 280ZX. The voice modual is working, we can hear it with it removed from the mounting bracket and close to our ear. The original rear L.H. speaker is no longer in the car and we can not get to where it was located. The whole back end of the car is full of an audio system. According to the manual there is a yellow wire with a black stripe that runs from the modual to the speaker. When we connect a speaker to that wire at the modual we get no sound out of the speaker. We still hear the voice modual speaking. We do not want to connect the voice modual to our audio system. We want to connect a speaker for the modual only. Any Suggestions?
  22. ? I will have to check that out.
  23. I have a 1982 280ZX with a Chev 350. The fuel pump is the stock fuel pump. It seems to work fine with no known problems. The problem is that I do not drive the car every day and after it has set for several days the fuel evaproates or leaks down into the manifold. When I start the car I have to prime it with engine starter because I don't know how to make the fuel pump fill the bowl of the carbarator before I crank the engine. Does the fuel pump start pumping when the key is in the on position, I may have a fuel switch on the oil pump sending unit. I know, fix the carbarator, but it is not worth fixing. When I rework the engine it is gone anyway. http://waskomtexas.com/zcar/
  24. I just got back from a 10 mile run on the interstate at 70 mph with the A/C running. The engine never got over 190 degrees even when I got back into town and drove under 30 mph. When I first got the car running I tried all of the suggestions on this board nothing worked. The heater cores worked !
  25. I don't have much in training in science, I am only a commercial artist, however if an engine is running too hot, it seems that either the engine is making too much heat for some reason or the cooling system is not dumping the heat produced. Is this not about true? When you stick a big engine in a small space such as under the hood of a zcar it produces a lot of heat, right? The space also restricts the size of the raditor. If we could put the raditor from a Mack truck under the hood would it not cool the engine? If the is true then some place between the raditor size of the original zcar raditor and that of a Mack truck raditor would cool the 350 engine, Right. Now, if the engine is running properly it will produce x amount of heat. If you can not get enough raditor capacity under the hood why not place the additional capacity elsewhere? Under the finder. http://waskomtexas.com/zcar/re_car/engine_cooling.html I look at a problem and then look for a simple solution. The above solved the problem. Why do so many people try to to make this so difficult?
