denny411
I would start by taking a sharp screwdriver, and jabbing away at the rust and the area around it. Then cut out all visible weak spots. You will want to feel the backside of the metal to insure that you have gotten all of the scale, then grind the surrounding area to get to clean metal. Get a can of "weld thru primer" and paint the the area to be welded.(be sure to turn the can upside down to clear the paint nozzle, or it WILL permanently clog it) cut a patch to fit and paint the backside of it with the weld thru primer too. Then weld in the patch. Now you can use the filler and not have to worry about having to do the job over next year.
