boosted280
Should megasquirt switch to offline when I am tryin to start my car?
mobythevan
In the bottom right corner of megatune is a box that says "connected" it will grey out if megatune is not connected to megasquirt. Is that what you are seeing when trying to start? If so, then you probably don't have 12 volt power that is on during cranking and running. I may be mis-interpreting what you mean by "offline"
boosted280
I am using tuner studios and when I have megasquirt connected to the car and try to start it it will go from online where I can change stuff to offline and the screen will go grey with off line on it. boosted280
Ok. So I forgot to mention that when I try to start it and it goes gray the some of the tabs at the bottom turn green also.
mario_82_ZXT
If it goes "offline" while cranking you probably wired it to a 12v source that is not "on" when the car is cranking. Try a different 12v wire. I usually use one off the ignition switch.
boosted280
Well the shop that wired it setup a new fuse block. And it is running to it.
mobythevan
Megasquirt has two power inputs. One constant 12 volts and one switched 12 volts. So the constant should have power all the time, like directly from the battery through a fuse. The switched should only have power during cranking and running. boosted280
Yes and the red 12 volt would be the constant 12 volt correct?

mario_82_ZXT
Well the shop that wired it setup a new fuse block. And it is running to it. I suspect they did it wrong then. Megasquirt has two power inputs. One constant 12 volts and one switched 12 volts. So the constant should have power all the time, like directly from the battery through a fuse. The switched should only have power during cranking and running. Is this a new thing? I was under impression that MS only had 1 power connection, unless they have added it to the new boards. Settings are stored in NVRAM so it doesn't need constant power like a stock ECU.
Matt Cramer
I believe Moby is referring to the relay board - the MS itself only has switched power, but the relay board has an always-on connection.
mobythevan
You are right Mario and Matt, I was thinking relay board.
